HOLLYWOOD PASO FINOS
Presented by California Paso Fino Horse Association and Western Costume
We are a theatrical troop and an equestrian performance team combining the talents of Hollywood stars, dancers & stunt people with champion equestrians. Our goal is to exhibit and promote the versatile, smooth gaited Paso Fino while celebrating legends of Hollywood. Above all to entertain.
We have been presenting and developing our acts every year at the Fiesta of the Spanish horse in May at the Burbank Equestrian Center. We then expanded our performances to include Del Mar Night of the Horse, EquestFest, Gold Cup in Las Vegas and many Parades including Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara and the Rose Parade.
Three years ago we presented THE LEGEND OF ZORRO starring Obba Babatunde. This was a five minute Flamenco dance routine telling the entire story of Zorro. This was such a hit we followed it with Zorro Returns, which we also performed last December for RFTV at Equestfest. We just premiered our newest production, DOROTHY IN AHHZ - ON THE WRONG SHELF, starring dancer Kaitlyn Benson as Dorothy and Horacio Galaviz as the Scarecrow. The story takes place at night in a toy store where Dorothy and Scarecrow dolls have been left on the shelf with the models of famous equestrians. They all come alive and conflict ensues.
Our stars include: Obba Babatunde, (THE NOTEBOOK, MANCHIRIAN CANDIDATE, BOSTON LEGAL, INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE). On Broadway he created the role of C.C. White in the original DREAMGIRLS. He is an accomplished horse trainer as well.
Our Marshal Martha Coolidge is a Hollywood film director (VALLEY GIRL, REAL GENIUS, RAMBLING ROSE, THE PRINCE & ME, SEX AND THE CITY, CSI) She holds several National Champion Paso Fino show titles.
Our fight team Tom Montgomery and Tony Parvino are members of the Imperial Knights Production Co. with years of experience acting, in performance fighting and professional jousting. Our World & National Champion riders include trainers Jose Rodriguez, Gerardo and Raul Matos, and amateurs KK DuBois and Madison Bray. Our horses are Champions from California, Florida and Arizona.
Other players include actor, dancer Horacio Galaviz, (WEEDS, THE MONK). Dancers Kaitlyn Benson, Natalie LaBellarte, and Elba Sanchez, Steven Lopez, Fabian Orozco.
What is special about Paso Finos? These horses are distinguished by their smooth four beat gait executed at various speeds making them the most versatile, smoothest riding horse in the world. The most unique gait is a show gait called the Classic Fino with very tight steps performed in full collection. Only a few Paso Finos can do this gait and they are the only horses in the world that can. Whether they stretch out in a long largo to cover ground quickly on the trail or pull themselves into their show gaits the Paso Fino is treasured for its comfortable ride, beauty and willing spirit. Descended from the Spanish horses brought to the New World by Columbus and the Conquistadors Paso Finos are one of the fastest growing breeds in the world.
Authentic Costumes. We perform our acts dressed in custom made clothing provided by Western Costume of Hollywood. Many of our costumes are original from the period and others were designed for famous actors in movies. We are proud to be sponsored by Western Costume one of the leading film costume rental companies for the movie industry.
