After a long search for a high quality fino mare in 2001 we were thrilled to find the young, powerful, magnificently gaited J.R.Finura - pregnant at the time with her first foal. She gave us a stunning chestnut colt we named El Marcador de Cache. Just a few months later El M's sire, MarcaPasos, went down in history as a young National Champion Fino Stallion. Finura has now produced many wonderful offspring sired by more great stallions but the first to train was El Marcador. We started him late so as not to stress his legs. One day after a month under saddle our trainer, Gerardo Matos, casually suggested we might want to come see El M in the round pen
The quiver in his flaxen mane sent chills up my back. The short, quick stride echoed the beat of my heart as I looked at our beautiful colt. I had never seen a gait like that in a baby. Quiet croup, low, sharp action, tiny steps, neck up naturally collected, head and body relaxed. Then the realization hit me. I'd been around long enough to know people bred lifetimes to get a horse like this. Gerardo said. "Marta. You have to ride him!" I got on, felt the incredible power, the naturalness of his gait and the extraordinary vibrato of his action. The other quality I noticed was his intelligence, patience and lack of fear. OMG!
Every horse is an individual and I believe that they tell you what they are meant to be. El M told us loud and clear from the first days under saddle that he was a natural, beautifully built fino stallion with a temperament like a dream. We wanted him to be around and healthy for a long time so we took our time.
El Marcador has proven him self. His charismatic showmanship, his spectacular fino gait make him a wonder to watch. His bloodlines, which include Rescate del Ocho, Capuchino, Amadeus and great mares like Dalesca and J.R. Katarina, are paying off - and he is producing beautiful, well gaited offspring that reflect his mechanics, conformation, temperament and intelligence. Many people say when they see him perform for the first time that he has made them understand what is so special about Paso Finos.
It is our honor to share this wonderful ambassador of our breed with the world. He is available for visits, showing and for breeding at our facility in Shadow Hills CA.
